Welcome to Madison, South Dakota. Madison is pleased to be represented
to the world via the Internet system. This invitation could only be enhanced
if you were to visit our city in person.
Madison, South Dakota is a progressive community recognized for
leadership in industrial development. They are the home of Dakota State
University, which is recognized nationally for its computer technology
curriculum. Madison is located in Lake County, which was named for the
beautiful lakes that border our city. These lakes and the surrounding area
provide wonderful recreational opportunities in both summer and winter.
Madison has a commission form of government, represented by a Mayor
and four councilmen, each elected at large. They serve three-year terms. Each
of the four councilmen are assigned an area of responsibility: Public Safety Commissioner, Public Works Commissioner,
Utilities Commissioner, and Commissioner of Finance and Revenue.
Council meetings are held every Monday evening at the City Hall Commission Room.
