WHOLE VILLAGE CHARACTER EDUCATION
MONTHLY THEMES
All members of the community are asked to
assist in promotion of the monthly themes in their home, business, church, service club or
other organization through discussion, newsletters, and posters. At the same time teachers
will be promoting the themes in their classrooms.
Beginning this school year the Project will focus on a Campaign
for Respect, with the value of respect forming the core of the program.
September - Respect for Education.
February - Respect for Diversity.
October - Respect for Health.
March - Respect Your School.
November - Respect for Humanity.
April - Respect Yourself.
December - Respect for Family.
May - Respect Your Future.
January - Respect for Friends.
"It has been said that there is nothing more
influential, more determinant, in a child's life than the moral power of quiet example.
For children to take morality seriously they must be in the presence of adults who take
morality seriously." - Aristotle.
The Whole Village Character Education Project received the School
Administrators of South Dakota Little Red School House Award recognizing the Project as a
significant innovative program deserving of statewide recognition that may be adopted by
other school districts.
