On Saturday, September 23, the MHS Spirit of Madison marching band had their first competition of the season. After arriving and boarding buses at 9 a.m., they traveled for about four hours to reach Waseca, Minnesota. Unfortunately, things didn't go as planned when it started to rain during their clinic. All the bands at the competition acted quickly to get any instruments out of the rain and inside. "Changes have been thrown at our band since the season started, but I am so proud to see everyone handle the changes with positive attitudes," explains head drum major Anna Blessinger. Due to the rain, the bands proceeded indoors, with an allotted fifteen minutes to practice before the competition. Madison placed fourth out of five bands to compete in Class AA. "Based on the circumstances, I'm really happy with how we performed,” Blessinger adds.
