Elisha “Eli” Kirby Oaks is the son of Kirby and Jessica Oaks, and the brother of Lizby Oaks. Eli was born in Minnesota and lived in four other towns before finally settling down in Madison in 2018. When Eli turned 16, he started working for Ace Hardware in Madison, where he found reward in building a good reputation for a strong business and building relations with customers he helps. When he’s not at work, he is usually found listening to music or watching movies like Anchorman, The Dark Knight, or his favorite, La La Land. Eli also loves watching TV shows like Breaking Bad and The Office, and he would have loved to play the character Creed.
Eli’s favorite hobbies are anything related to music, and he would probably not make it without his AirPods. He likes to sing, listen to music, and sometimes even experiment by making his own beats and rhythms. Choir is his favorite class and has been the extracurricular he has been dedicated to the most; besides golf, of course. Out of all the music he heard in his time, Good Kid, m.A.A.d City by Kendrick Lamar, In Utero by Nirvana, and What’s Going On by Marvin Gaye have been some of his favorite albums yet.
When Eli graduates, he plans to attend the University of Sioux Falls for accounting (even though he doesn’t like to spend money) and would like to work for either a big or small company, preferably close to home. He plans to visit exciting places like San Francisco and Iceland. For future high school students, Eli recommends “don’t take high school that seriously.”
