Kate Klein

Kathryn Gayle Klein, better known as “Kate,” lives on her family farm near Madison, South Dakota. She has always lived there and truly loves spending time with her family, including her Dad, Lee; her Mom, Chris; her sister, Kiley; and her brother, Troy. When she is not working at home, Kate enjoys relaxing at home and spending time with her family, her friends, and her animals. She likes to be around her two heeler dogs, Rosco and Ruby, and her horse, Wrangler. The most rewarding thing about helping out on the farm is knowing that she is helping others. Even though Kate has never been much of a traveler, she would like to spend a year in Hawaii if she had the chance.

Kate has always thought that school, specifically math, came easily to her; unsurprisingly, math is her favorite subject. Talking to people has always been easy for Kate, as well. Besides math, Kate’s other favorites include the color baby blue, Hershey's chocolate bars, and the movie 8 Seconds. One thing that Kate recommends to people is Texas Roadhouse and their iconic dinner rolls. One thing that Kate could not live without is Mountain Dew, her favorite drink. Besides buying some Mountain Dew, if Kate had 5 million dollars to spend, she would also buy a brand new, red Chevy Duramax. She would also donate some and give some to her brother Troy for John Deere farm equipment. Kate’s bucket list includes going to the National Finals Rodeo and getting the opportunity to watch it. Along with that, she would want to fly on a plane. Surprisingly, Kate has never been on a plane before. One superpower Kate would want to have is invisibility so she could go wherever she wanted, and it would keep her away from spiders, which are her biggest fear.

When asked what she enjoys most about farming, Kate said, “I enjoy being outside and running all of my John Deere equipment.” If Kate had a YouTube channel or TikTok platform, she would include mostly farm content. Even though Kate doesn't have a favorite sports team, she is always going to cheer for the Madison Bulldogs. After high school, Kate plans on attending Mitchell Tech for Ag Business. After college, she wants to get a job in that field or go back to working on her farm. In 10 years, Kate sees herself married, with a family, and living on a different farm. When Kate was asked about her advice to underclassmen, she said, “Work hard and ask questions when you can because it will not hurt you.”
