Sophia Sudenga

Sophia Sue Sudenga, or “Soph,'' as her friends call her, is a senior at Madison High School. She was born and raised in Madison, South Dakota, and is the daughter of Mark and Laura Sudenga. She has an older brother named Sean, but no pets, so her house is fairly quiet. Sophia works in the deli at One Stop in Madison. Sophia says that the most rewarding part of her job is “getting to snack on food during work.” When Sophia isn’t working, she likes to spend her free time hanging out with friends and going for rides in her bright green Jeep. When asked the question, “If you could live anywhere in the world for one year, where would it be and why,” Sophia chose Paris strictly for the vibe and amazing bakeries.

If it wasn’t already obvious, Sophia’s favorite color is green -- hence the green Jeep -- and she loves mashed potatoes. Sophia really loves the movie Interstellar, but she doesn’t want to be a character in Interstellar; instead, she’d like to be a character from the show Mako Mermaids. Sophia is very good at math as well as dance; they simply come easily to her. Sophia’s baby blanket and stuffed raccoon from her childhood are items that she couldn’t live without and are incredibly special to her.

Sophia has a short bucket list, but with good choices, nonetheless. She would like a big house, nice cars, and to go skydiving, eventually. Sophia enjoys baking and she recommends that everyone give it a try. Sophia’s plans after high school are undecided, but right now she would like to attend college for a career in interior design or to run a doggy daycare. One thing is for sure: Sophia doesn’t want to stay in Madison. Preferably, she would live somewhere that doesn’t have grasshoppers, as she starts crying at the sight of them. In 10 years, Sophia sees herself having a job, a decent income, and a family. Some advice Sophia has to offer underclassmen is, “Don’t care what everyone else thinks, do what makes you happy.”
