You Are So Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah
Movie Review
The movie You’re So Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah is about Stacy and Lydia, middle school BFFs, who have always dreamed about having epic bat mitzvahs. However, things start to go comically awry when a popular boy and middle school drama threatens their friendship and their rite of passage. Adam Sandler, the founder and current owner of Happy Madison Productions, once again hit a homerun in this fun, coming-of-age film about his teenage daughter and her struggle to reach womanhood.

While watching the movie You Are So Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah, I found it interesting how the movie is so relatable, yet unrelatable. There were bits and pieces that I could imagine or relate to from when I was in middle school and other pieces that were added for drama and comedic effect.
The movie itself is a little cringy and crazy, but in a good way. The kind of way that makes you laugh from a sense of second-hand embarrassment. You Are So Not Invited To My Bat Mitzvah is a funny and well-written movie.
While watching it, I related to some of the struggles that Stacy went through, even though she put herself in those situations. There were many points in the movie that I stopped to think about the fact that her problems were all preventable. She just never has the time to stop and figure out a solution.
Not only is the main plot and character of the movie enjoyable, but so are the side characters. I loved all of the scenes with Ronnie, Stacy’s older sister, and Zaara, Ronnie’s best friend. From crashing cars to chasing off boys, these two are quite a pair in the movie. This helps to add to the plot and make the movie more interesting.

The movie You’re So Not Invited To My Bat Mitzvah was cringy in the most adorable way. While watching it, I found myself sitting on the edge of my seat wondering why the main character, Stacy Freedman, would put herself through such torment only to redeem herself at the very last minute.
This somewhat unrealistic movie very cleverly portrayed the difficult transition teens go through to get to adolescence. While the main plot was well written, I also enjoyed the subtle side plots adding to the fun (and slightly chaotic) Freedman house. This movie is perfect to watch when you’re bored or looking for some background noise. Its simple plot is easy to understand and follow without much insight and works nicely for drama fans.
All in all, I give this movie six out of ten stars because of its fun and light nature. It was, overall, well-written and fun to watch with many enjoyable side plots.
You Are So Not Invited To My Bat Mitzvah had a lot of great characters that made it an interesting and fun movie. However, the film tends to get boring and difficult to view if you watch it more than once.
