Audrey Nelson

If you spy a jet-silver 2005 Buick Park Avenue affectionately named “Buie” idling in paid parking spot #32 at Madison High School, you can be sure that it belongs to Audrey Rose “Goob” Nelson: daughter of Steve and Debra Nelson, proud Panda Express aficionado. Born approximately 6,604 days prior to the creation of this article, Audrey proudly bears the title of well-adjusted middle child, falling between older sister Grace and younger sister Lydia. According to Audrey, the notorious position of middle child “is not as bad as they say.”

One might assume this article would be about her fleet-footed, deer-like movement on the track and basketball court or her Thor-like hammer spikes on the volleyball court; but no, welcome to the personality which embodies the inner Audrey. Though as a young lass she dreamed of becoming a nurse, Audrey is now an inspiring businesswoman, excited to forge a legacy that will be remembered for years - a legacy built from traveling and making connections all over the world, not one built in the office.

As an environmentalist, Audrey lives for the day when she acquires a brand-new electric Mustang Mach E, while simultaneously forbearing from passing judgment on those who advocate for gas-powered vehicles.

If she were to conquer a small body of water and claim the underwater throne, she would do so as Cleo the Mermaid from Audrey’s favorite childhood show, H₂O: Just Add Water. She justifies this opinion by holding fast to the claim that Cleo “has the prettiest tail.”

Despite proudly bearing the middle name of Rose, Audrey does not have a particular affection for the woody perennial flowering plant native to Asia; instead, her favorite flower is the marigold for its simple and bright beauty.

While flying through the air during a much-anticipated skydiving excursion, Audrey will fondly look back on her times at Madison High as she reminisces about the many pleasant hours she spent laboring over her trigonometry homework under the ever-watchful eye of Mr. Bierschbach.

Though filled with an absolute hatred towards the “creepy” little arachnids known as spiders, Audrey loves coyotes; in fact, she intends to further both her academic and athletic career as one as she attends the University of South Dakota for a major in business and a much-coveted spot on the volleyball team.

Looking back ten years from now, surrounded by her young and athletic family, Audrey would provide the advice of “finish your homework and work as hard as you can” to young lads and lasses preparing to enter the realm of high school. Overall, Audrey is esteemed by classmates, friends, family, and all who know her as diligent, outgoing, and well-rounded.
