Taleya Lyn Walters, also known as “Leya,” moved from Texas to join Madison High School for her senior year. When asked about moving to Madison, Taleya revealed that she has lived in Arizona and Utah as well. You might see Taleya working at Sunshine, either stocking shelves or having conversations with the elderly, which is her favorite part of the job. Taleya comes from a large, blended family; from this, she has found a role model in her dad, Jody. She strives to follow in his footsteps as an accomplished yet humble person.
Taleya Walters has an adventurous spirit, which is evident in her bucket list. On her list, Taleya wishes to skydive, ride on the scariest roller coaster in the world, and visit Switzerland. When asking Taleya how she could participate in these death-defying activities, she described herself as being “cool as a cucumber” in stressful situations. In fact, Taleya’s only fear is the “liquid that sits on top of yogurt,” but it doesn’t stop her from eating it. For now, though, Taleya Walters enjoys spending time with her family, seeing her dog Jackson, watching the television show NCIS, eating mac-n-cheese, and listening to music.
In the future, Taleya sees herself in a “house in the country with a lot of dogs and a steady job,” whatever the job may be. Taleya does not yet know where she wants to attend college or what she wants to major in, but she does know that she wants to help people in the future. Her advice to underclassmen is to “get real,” meaning think realistically about your goals and be the “realest version” of yourself as possible.
