Once again, Christmas is quickly approaching and festivities are beginning. The holiday season is a busy time for most, as families travel to their relatives and community events begin. In fact, December 2nd will be a busy day in Madison, as there is a whole day planned for fun events. During the day, there are different businesses providing activities, and at night, there will be a parade of lights, the lighting of a tree, a soup dinner, and carols. This will be the second year of the whole-day event, and will hopefully be a day of fun, laughter, and Christmas spirit!
Christmas is celebrated in different ways all over the world. Mexico marks the night before Jesus’ birth by having a feast at midnight, singing, and dancing. Unlike Mexico, Japan does not celebrate Christmas in a religious way; instead, they associate romance with Christmas by going out to eat instead of cooking at home. Additionally, Australia is different from how South Dakota celebrates, as their Christmas is a Summer affair. They often host barbecues on the beach when summer vacations begin. While customs and cultures are different, Christmas is still a common holiday that is celebrated in all parts of the world, whether religion is involved or not.
So, how are you celebrating Christmas?
