The MHS theater department was happy to announce the advancement of their One Act performance to the state competition, which took place from February 1st through February 3rd. Before moving on to the state level, the cast and crew came in first place at their regional competition on January 24th. Coming in second place at regions was Tri-Valley. Madison's One Act performance The Treasure Of Huckleberry Ridge or… Hey Jude! managed to receive a superior award in every category possible at State, including ensemble, directing, and tech awards. The cast and crew includes Eli Oaks, Kamryn Pierce, Calvin Martin, Georgie Kolbeck, Ellie Jankord, Selma Brown, Ava Brandenburger, Ian Groce, Tristan Brown, Maguire Studer, Shayna FlyingHorse, Emmi Honomichl, Jaylynn Mackert, Oliver Meyer, Milo Osborn, Alex Studer, Tucker Wrage, Jesse Schuster, Preston Hyland, Isla Hennings, Zoey Lindley, Kai Dissing, Gabby Gosmire, Olivia Sims, Ella Thompson, and Caitlyne Kearin. Student directors this year were Olivia Bonner, Evelyn Davis, Willa Martin, and Vianca Villogas Risco.
Although they managed to do well at State, that was not done without facing challenges. More than one cast member was sick up until the day of the performance. One of the student directors, Olivia Bonner, even had to fill in for a cast member in the State performance. The MHS theater department encourages anyone interested in joining the cast or crew to talk to Ms. Brown or Mrs. Ford.
