Hayden’s High School Highlights
Hayden Jo Oftedal has lived in the Rutland area all of her life but only started attending Madison High School in her junior year. From kindergarten to her sophomore year she attended Rutland High School. Hayden has five people in her family along with their one dog. A fun fact about Hayden is that she shares the same birthday as her mom! Hayden recommends staying active because it keeps your mind and body healthy. She stays active by playing sports and going on the occasional walk. Her favorite high school memory has been her bus rides to volleyball games and golf tournaments, and of course when Coach Liesinger tells the girl's golf team that they are the prettiest team in the state. Even though her favorite memories are of bus rides, her dream superpower is teleportation, mostly because she hates driving and does it too much.
In her free time, Hayden likes to watch Grey's Anatomy or play card games with her grandma. If she were to be any movie character she’d want to be the main character's best friend or Reese Witherspoon from Legally Blonde because she is hilarious. According to Hayden “You can’t watch TV or movies without a good blanket,” which is something she could not live without. In the future, Hayden hopes to have a family, along with a job and a house she loves. If she had five million dollars to spend, Hayden would build her dream house.
Something that comes easily to Hayden is talking to people and volunteering. Hayden works as a lifeguard and teaches swimming lessons. The most rewarding part of her job is working with kids and teaching them how to swim. Hayden wants to attend SDSU for a degree in nursing to become an operating room nurse and go back to school to be a nurse practitioner or physician assistant. One quote that Hayden lives by is “Be the nice kid.” Some advice Hayden has for the underclassmen is “Be kind to everyone, you never know what they’re going through.”
