Trevor: A Light in Our Lives
Endearing Senior Shares His Love for Christ and His Plans for the Future
High school senior Trevor Paul Harms has not always lived in Madison, nor has he always attended school in Madison. For much of his childhood, he lived and learned in Aberdeen. When Trevor was 4, his family moved to Miller and lived there for a year. Since he was an eighth grader, he and his family have resided in Madison, where he has attended both MMS and MHS. Unlike many others, Trevor homeschooled during his junior year. Fortunately, he gets to spend his senior year in school with his peers. With such a complex childhood, Trevor, if given the opportunity, would opt to live “in a remote jungle, serving as a missionary to a tribe that doesn’t know Jesus.” Perhaps more realistically, he plans to attend SDSU or Lake Area Technical College for an aviation degree. He hopes to become a missionary pilot, delivering people and products to and between remote villages.
Trevor’s outlook on life is one others should admire. He finds it imperative to avoid planning his life too far ahead, as he understands that his life will follow God’s plan, and attempting to do it himself leads to worry. Lifestyle guides music taste, which is evident with Trevor as his favorite type of music is Christian Worship. The average high schooler's job is primarily for money, but Trevor's job serves a bigger purpose. He works for Child Evangelism Fellowship, where he gets to teach kids about Jesus. When asked what one item he could not live without, Trevor responded that he could not go without the Bible because "it gives encouragement and direction." He stated that his life would entirely lose its meaning without it.
Along with Trevor’s love for Christ comes his love for family. He has a family of six and a yellow labrador retriever named Lucy. When asked about his favorite food, he replied without hesitation that he loves his mom's cooking most. He values time with friends and time spent outdoors. His classmates and friends love him dearly, gifting the nicknames, “Trev”, “Trev-dog”, and “T-bone”. While outside, his favorite things to do are hunt and fish. If he had a YouTube channel, he would create content surrounding the outdoors, showcasing his love for hunting and fishing. Trevor's advice to underclassmen is "High school may be hard, but so is life. If you build your foundation on Jesus, He will get you through it, and you will have an amazing time on the way."
