dress up

With the boys' and girls’ basketball seasons beginning and their first games in the following weeks, let’s think about our favorite themes and what ones we want to see at the games this winter. Outfit guidelines based on a color, like blackout and neon, are always popular because most people will participate. Then there are the special games, like Pink Night, that have their correlating attire. For filler themes this past football season, we had beach, USA, camouflage, and ski. Lastly, our final football game happened to be on Halloween, so it only made sense to make the theme match the holiday.

This fall, our football student section had a great line-up of themes, but I polled twenty-two students to find out their favorite dress expectations. Blackout, ski, and homecoming each earned one vote, tying for last place. Another tie, between Halloween and pink night with six votes each, put the costumes and pink outfits in second place. Ironically, the game whose theme was the most enjoyed, earning seven votes, was also the game with the smallest student section attendance. This was the chilly away game against Canton, and the theme was camouflage.

Keeping these results in mind, the student body will be sure to include camouflage in this winter’s boys and girls basketball student section themes, along with the runner-ups.
