"Madison Senior has her “eye” on the future"
Senior Eleana “Ellie” Osthus started in the Madison School District in third grade. She moved from Tea, where she was born, and went to school through second grade. Ellie lives with her mom, Stace; and her dad Eric. She has an older brother and a younger sister; she also has had many animals including cats, dogs, fish, frogs, rabbits, and guinea pigs. She and her cat, Autumn, affectionately known as “Tummy” are a self-proclaimed “Dynamic duo” and are inseparable. Ellie's favorite color is forest green and she enjoys Italian food, especially from Johnny Carinos. She held many jobs including Dairy Queen, the Floral Shop, and the Lewis Pharmacy. She enjoys traveling, spending time with her friends, shopping, and getting her nails done.
One of Ellie's favorite memories from high school was PI day in Mr. Bierschbach's room. If she had 5 million dollars to spend she would buy a customized Mercedes “with all the features” and pay for college. The lesson she’s learned most from high school is “how to have effective communication” and her advice for underclassmen is to not worry about what other people think and focus on yourself.
Ellie plans to go to South Dakota State University to get her undergraduate degree in medical biology and eventually go on to optometry school. In ten years she wants to be out of optometry school and working as an eye doctor. She hopes to start a family, and of course, have a cat (or 30). Ellie wants to travel the world and especially see southern France or Italy. A quote that she lives her life by is “We literally live on a floating rock” since she is always ready for adventure.
