Myths, Missionaries, and Michael Bublé
Henry Richardson Meyer is the second-oldest of six children: Addelia, Oliver, Charles, Holbrook, and Penelope with parents Kirsti and JB, and Australian Labrador named Coco. He enjoys spending his free time playing basketball with his brothers and loves eating his mom’s homemade enchiladas and pasta from Johnny Carino’s in Sioux Falls. Henry has been involved in wrestling since the first grade but wanted to quit in fifth grade. His dad encouraged him to try one more year and that’s when Henry really started to enjoy and improve his wrestling. When asked what the most rewarding part of mowing lawns and being a lifeguard is he replied, “Getting the job done properly and efficiently”.
Henry’s favorite movie is Lord of the Rings: Two Towers and said–no surprise–he would play Legolas if he could play any character in the world. His music playlist is “janky” and wide-ranging, with songs from Michael Bublé to Veggie Tales and AC/DC. When asked if he could go back in time, when and where would he go, he responded that he would go to Jerusalem during Jesus’ ministry so he could meet him. Physics is Henry’s favorite subject in school because it’s fun to see the math and science applied to real-life situations. His bucket list consists of, in order, 1) Skydiving, 2) Die on his 100th birthday, 3) Be a fit 99-year-old, and 4) Have a family.
After Henry graduates from high school he plans to go on a mission for two years and then attend BYU, although he hasn’t quite figured out what he wants to study, and ten years from now, he sees himself married with children. His most memorable moments from high school so far are interacting with different types/ages of people through his extracurricular activities. Henry’s advice for underclassmen is to study right away for the ACT, don’t just go in cold turkey. His favorite saying to live by is, “Strive to be better daily by one percent.”
