“Helpful Mind and Healing Hands”
Nathan Keith Haselton, also known as “Nate” or “Nathania,” is a student at MHS. Nathan is the son of Jared and Jennifer, he has four siblings: three sisters and one brother. Nathan’s favorite food is his dad's salmon. He looks up to his dad because he is a strong, helpful, and devoted person. Nathan moved to Madison in fourth grade after living in California for the previous years of his life. He and his family moved from their neighborhood due to feeling unsafe.
Nathan is very interested in science and plans to pursue the medical field. After graduation, he will go on a two-year mission and then go to BYU for biomedical science to become a doctor. In ten years, he sees himself eight years into an eleven-year program and happily married with two kids. He also plans to have four or five children in total. If Nathan had five million dollars, he would use that money to pay off his student loans, pay off his mission, and invest the remaining money.
Nathan enjoys reading and sleeping in his free time. A book he likes to read is Skyward by Brandon Sanderson. When asked what item he could not live without, he said, “If I didn’t have books, I would be sad.” He works at the Community Center as a lifeguard and enjoys seeing kids look up to him at work. Something people may not know about Nathan is that he has a love for ping-pong.
If Nathan could have any superpower, he would choose portals, because he believes that portals would be a useful tool to have. If he could play any character in a movie, he would choose Obi-Wan Kenobi because it is his favorite Star Wars Character. Nathan says that the movie character that best describes him is Ron Weasley. Nathan says Ron Weasley is “dope” and “ginger.” If Nathan could live anywhere in the world, he would choose Norway. He believes that Norway has an interesting language, an interesting healthcare system, and he likes winter. Nathan has one thing on his bucket list, which is to go skydiving.
Some things that come easily to Nathan include listening to others, leading, and having conversations. Nathan's most memorable moment is conducting the Madison High School band. If he had a YouTube channel, he would want it to be about music. He would have his channel show off his musical talents by playing the guitar, piano, and saxophone. Nathan's favorite genre is pop. His go-to karaoke song is "Go The Distance" by Michael Bolton and Walt Disney.
Nathan has had a fear of cats ever since he met a mean cat during his freshman year. His advice to underclassmen is “to be a decent human being.” A quote Nathan lives by is, “The best time to plant a tree was ten years ago the second best time is now.” Nathan recommends learning how to learn.
