The 2022-2023 high school girls' gymnastics season has ended. The state meet took place in Aberdeen at their high school gym. The AA competition was in the morning with the A competition in the afternoon. Winning the AA was the Mitchell Kernels wit past champions, the O’Gorman Knights, in 2nd. O'Gorman's Maeve Boetel won the all-around, beam, vault, and bars titles on individual day. Winning the floor was the Knights' Audry Meyer.
The Lady Bulldogs won the state championship in 2022 and fell just short of it this year. Winning the title was the Estelline/ Hendricks Redhawks, with a score of 138.917. This was their first state title in the history of their program. Second place went to the Chamberlain Cubs with 137.117. Third place ended in a tie between the Lady Bulldogs and the Hot Springs Bison with a score of 136.817. Madison’s, Karlie Nelson, a freshman, placed in every event; 5th in the vault, 3rd on bars, 5th on beam, 7th on floor, and 3rd all around. These placings also earned her a spot on the all-tournament team. Nelson also received MVP, an award voted on by the team. Junior, Lexi Hirsch, placed 6th on beam.
This year's team consisted of, Julia Dossett, Ellie Keller, Sophia Sudenga, Lexi Hirsch, Jessie Tappe, Karlie Nelson, Lizby Oaks, Sophia Peterreins, Kyra Wiese, and managers; Ashlyn Strom, Maggie Engebretson, and Evie Boecker; as well as Head Coach Maridee Dossett and Assistant Coach Carrie Wieman.
