Senior Spotlight: Ailin Montgomery

In elementary school, Ailin was known as the one with god-given artistic abilities - everyone would go to her with their drawing dilemmas. Now, some ten years later, Ailin Montgomery, the daughter of Shawn and Alan Montgomery, is somewhat of a legend. Her bubbly personality, passion for fashion, and aura of intellect affects everyone she meets.

A self-proclaimed old soul, Ailin enjoys many activities: watching Netflix, preferably the TV show Gotham, reading her indescribably long list of favorite books, and making her very delicious stir-fry just to list a few. Ailin works at Four Seasons Flea Market, combining her passion for history and fashion. For the past three years, she has spent much time pricing clothing and creating window displays - something she has really enjoyed.

Throughout high school, Ailin has been very active participating in band, choir, oral interp, theater and much more. In each activity, Ailin, whose full name is Ailin Astrid Behrends Montgomery, excels. Her easy-going and bubbly personality have paved the way for the success of each program. Although energetic, Ailin finds value in incremental solitude. She has recently compared herself to Perry the Platypus from Disney Channel original Fineous and Ferb, as they “both like their alone time”. In the classroom, Ailin is one of the brightest.  As a fellow student, I can attest to the many instances where her intellect and wisdom have shown through.

Next year, Ailin plans to attend an out of state college to pursue a degree in History and Illustration. Ideally, she would like to combine her two interests to find a career unknown to her in the current season of life. Comparatively, Ailin is considering teaching in the field of higher education. 10 years from now Ailin plans to live in either a small cottage in the wilderness or the heart of a bustling city-  no middle ground. Most importantly, however, she plans to have a herd of cats. When asked if she could do anything, Ailin says she would like to restore historic homes “there is nothing like a historic-house” she concludes.

No matter what Ailin does or where she goes, there is no doubt that she will excel. Ailin commented metaphorically that her life “is like a jawbreaker: challenging, time consuming, and mildly rewarding”. Ailin’s jovial nature and intellectual aura will serve her well in the adventure of life after high school.
