Neo-Plague Taking Over

A mammal-affecting virus known as the coronavirus has recently shown itself in Asian countries and has even travelled as far as the Americas. It has infected few individuals with the sickness, and in various cases death, here in America. Canada now holds a carrier of the sickness who flew in from Wuhan, Hubei, China, which is the center of the breakout. Due to this, the US has only allowed 6 nonstop flights from China to come into the country and has led to passengers from international flights being searched for symptoms of the virus for cautionary reasons.  A coronavirus is a type of virus that most of the times affects the respiratory tract of mammals, which includes humans. Other animals that have been infected are mice, rats, dogs, cats, turkeys, horses, pigs, and cattle. The coronavirus may infect your nose, sinuses, or upper throat and is very similar to a common cold in that it is spread through coughing. In fact, 15-30% of common colds are caused by these viruses. The coronavirus was first discovered in the 1960s in chickens with infectious bronchitis and in nasal cavities of human’s containing the common cold. Present day, a few outbreaks have occurred globally originating from China, and has been responsible for roughly 800 illnesses, 26 deaths, and around 4,000 total infected people. The first case of this was actually discovered in 2012 in Saudi Arabia and since then has affected 25 countries including the United States with the virus.
