Carson David Hunsley is your local, seventeen-year-old, red-headed tall kid. This is probably why he says he is good at grabbing things off of high shelves for people. It also explains why he likes to play basketball for the school. Carson credits his height to his love of chicken alfredo. Carson says, “I think eating it is what made me grow faster.” Overtime Sports Bar in Sioux Falls is his favorite place to eat the foods he loves. If he were a food, he says, he would be an onion because “they have multiple layers.” He would also like to emphasize that if he were an onion it would be without the smell.
Carson is from a family of six. His family members include his mom and dad, Stacy and David; his older brother, Caden; and his two younger siblings, Cambree and Cannon. Along with them is their dog, Rex, and their cat, Molly. His family travels to Pierre often, which is where he says he would live if he could live anywhere in the world for a year. Out in Pierre, he spends his time hunting, fishing, and driving his 4-wheeler, the latter being his favorite. He says the one item he could not live without is his 4-wheeler, as it is a mode of transport and a form of recreation. Occasionally, he gets to use this skill/hobby at his job in the Parks and Recreation department where he helps coordinate town events. He says his favorite part of the job is interacting with the community. When he is done with high school, he would like to build on the job he has now and turn it into a career. He wants to attend SDSU for sports and rec. management and possibly become an athletic director for a college.
The cartoon character that Carson says best describes him is Wile E. Coyote. He says that this character is very cool to him and embodies his crazy and wacky personality. This probably ties into the reasoning for him wanting to climb Mt. Everest. He says the accomplishment behind the feat would be awesome and that it would be interesting to see the frozen bodies of his predecessors of the challenge. If he had his superpower, though, this would probably be much easier. Carson would have the power of telekinesis, if he could choose any superpower. “It would make everyday tasks so much easier, and I wouldn’t have to get up to grab anything,” says Carson. In spite of this apparent laziness, he does not practice the same idleness in his family life or other goals. If given $5 million to spend in 5 days, but it can’t be spent on himself, Carson would give it all to his parents and siblings. Another ambitious goal of his is to make it on the show Survivor, as he loves the outdoors and thinks it would be an awesome experience to live in the jungle.
In his future, Carson sees himself as a highly ambitious man, with goals outside of his immediate career or job. He wants to accomplish things that mean something to him. He wants people to see him as a free-spirited, kind, and dedicated person. Among all of his other ambitions, Carson’s one goal that he wants to guarantee for himself is to have a good, steady job, and a family to come home to, hopefully in the Midwest.
