“Hailing all the way from Madison, South Dakota, representing Team Discmania, Daniel Bounds!” This is something Daniel hopes to hear one day in his future. As for now, Daniel will keep boasting his first-place finish in the Junior’s Division at the 2019 South Dakota Disc Golf Championships, where he played against a 12-year-old and two first-timers. Daniel Lloyd Bounds has called Madison home since his big move from Colorado at the age of five. He lives at home with his mother, Elizabeth and his sister, Callie.
Daniel Bounds takes pride in his all-natural, well-groomed ginger hair. His only downfall is the amount of sunscreen required to play a whole day of disc golf with his friends. He enjoys growing the sport and is a part of a small team of disc golfers, named Albatross Disc Golf. His favorite course that he has played so far in his career is Gavin’s Point in Yankton, and he suggests that everyone plays at least once, if they have the chance.
Daniel is most known for his love of disc golf, amazing theatrical skills, and his consistency of being late. He has been participating in plays since he was about seven-years-old. Over that span, he has played many important roles and even hopes to further his theatrical skills in college.
When Daniel is not disc golfing, you can rarely find him working at “The Ranch,” to which he is employed. No, that does not mean farm animals. “The Ranch” refers to your local Madison Pizza Ranch. His favorite parts of working at Pizza Ranch is the free food and getting to work with “the homies.”
If Daniel could have any superpower, he would want super speed, like the Flash. His reasoning is to get places faster, so that he is not late all the time. Daniel also suffers from IBS which no superhuman speed could help. According to Daniel, his one necessity in life is his disc golf bag because “disc golf is life.” His one piece of advice to underclassmen is that 93.5% is “good enough.”
In the near future, Daniel hopes to attend Bethel University in St. Paul, MN. Inspired by his favorite math teacher, Mr. Alan Bierschbach, Daniel plans to major in Mathematics. With his Mathematics degree, he wants to become a high school math teacher or professor.
One day, Daniel hopes to become a professional disc golfer and visit his dream courses of Maple Hill in Leicester, MA, DeLaveaga in Santa Cruz, CA, and Idlewild in Burlington, KY. More realistically, Daniel wants to graduate from college, begin teaching, and settle down with a wife and have one child. In the meantime, Daniel enjoys playing video games, furthering his relationship with God, and spreading “peace and love.”
Overall, Daniel is known to be a well-rounded individual, with his heart being in the right spot. He looks forward to warmer weather and more disc golf.
