There is a student at Madison High School who has taken almost every single ag class that is offered. This student is seventeen-year-old senior Willem Sunde, who loves to work with his hands and learns by doing. He currently works on his family farm, which is home to his parents Lindsay and William and his three younger siblings: Lily, Willard, and Layne. On a daily basis, you can find him doing a wide variety of tasks/chores on his family farm and he never does the same thing for two days in a row. When he completes his jobs on the farm, Willem works on advancing his own personal skills, which include carpentry and woodwork. He has even tried his hand at being a blacksmith and if he was given the chance to be on a gameshow he would make an appearance on Forged in Fire. This show would present Willem a tremendous opportunity to better his blacksmith skills and test his forging methods.
In his free time, he likes to enjoy all things that involve being outdoors, but his main preface is hunting and fishing. No matter the season, during the fall he hunts game such as pheasants, ducks, and deer. Once the winter weather comes, he finds other animals to hunt, which include, but are not limited to: deer, coyotes, and raccoons. Although he has a great time hunting these animals, the craziest experience he’s had while hunting came when he was hunting west of the river wilderness and he shot a 900-pound elk. One of his biggest dreams as a hunter is to visit Kodiak Island and get the opportunity to hunt Kodiak brown bear, whose weight could range from 660-1130 lbs.
If he were to have to move from his wonderful farm in Madison, he would live in two places. One of which is Hawaii because of the scenery of the mountains, oceans, and volcanoes; The other being Wyoming, which has great land for hunting and allows Willem to not constantly be around people. Despite the love of these places, Willem is looking to live in, or near, Madison for at least the next ten years and work on his farm. If Willem was going to get five million dollars to spend in five days he would buy land for cattle and crops, buy a sports car because “why not,” build his own house, and travel.
