SENIOR SPOTLIGHT: Connor Hively

When Connor isn’t making subs at One-Stop or playing sports, you can find him spending time with friends or watching Family Feud. On June 19th, 2002, Connor Joe Hively was born. He has three siblings: his two brothers, Wiatt and Carter, and his sister, Ava. Now, Connor is an eighteen year old student-athlete senior at Madison High School. He plays basketball and is a leader on the football team.

Connor is a defensive end on the football team. In basketball, he is a power forward. When asked something he recommends, it’s sports. Connor recommends sports because you can be close to your friends, create lifelong memories, and everlasting friendships. Connor loves playing sports and competing. When he is not on the court or field, he is watching Tik-Toks, but only “The funny ones,” he chuckles. In addition to watching the funny Tik-Toks, he enjoys watching conspiracy videos. Connor is highly interested in conspiracy theories, and he would like to be a conspiracy theorist if he had his own YouTube Channel.

Though Connor has lived in Madison his whole life, he wants to travel and explore bigger cities. I asked why. He responded with, “There are more people, activities, and great food.” Speaking of food, his favorite food is Mexican, preferably from El Vaquero. Connor’s ‘Death Row Meal’ would consist of Mexican food or Chinese broccoli from China Moon. If Connor had a food item that described the last year of his life, it would be the “COVID Turnover.” Pretty interesting. That was his item of choice because everything and everyone changed so quickly, our world turned upside down in a matter of months.

Connor’s dream job would be “a CEO of a cool gadget I created.” If he miraculously made five million dollars and couldn’t spend it on himself, he would spend it on his family or people in need. Connor is a very spontaneous person; he has a bucket list consisting of skydiving, bungee jumping, and swimming with a shark.

After high school, you can catch Connor at South Dakota State University. Although Connor is undecided on what he wants to major in, I am sure he will do amazing things at SDSU. After graduating from college, Connor sees himself with a family and a stable career that keeps him financially stable.
