As we begin the new month, Madison High School students have the opportunity to audition for the 2020 Fall One Act play Dracula, as presented to you by Ms. Anne Elisa Brown, teacher and drama director at MHS, and the Fine Arts Department. If you are a part of the cast, rehearsals or practice will take place everyday after school from three-thirty to four-thirty p.m. In preparation for the live performance in January for members of the Madison community, there will be dress rehearsals held on two Saturdays to which cast members are required to attend. At the conclusion of January, there will be the Region One Act Contest that will later on be announced whether or not it is virtual or face to face. All students are welcomed and encouraged to participate in MHS Fine Arts and join us in auditions for the play this year.
With personal experience, I’ve learned that the best moments in high school begin when you step outside of your realm of comfort, or when you put yourself out there. Don’t be afraid to try something new if your interest is sparked even at all at the thought, because I can guarantee the memories you will make will be worth it. The cast each year becomes a tight group of individuals, all willing to work together for the common goal of creating a captivating show for the audience.
In addition to auditioning for the play, you can also join the MHS One Act Tech Crew, run by Ms. Wiebers, and aid in any area you wish to help with or is where help is needed. Tech crew is responsible for lighting and sound, as well as crafty projects in order to create costumes, props, and sets. As mentioned before, these different groups involved with One Act are a great opportunity to connect with new people, try something new, and immerse yourself into an amiable environment. This year's play is certainly going to be a lot of fun, and a great opportunity for each and every student at MHS. Auditions will be held next Thursday and Friday at three-thirty p.m. Feel free to contact Ms. Wiebers or Mrs. Brown for further information. Can’t wait to see you there!
