The Madison Central FFA Chapter has been quite active in the past months. Chapter members have learned to adapt to alternate methods of utilizing zoom, virtual resources, and social distancing to take part in annual activities and events. However, the new circumstances have not slowed community outreach, competitions and the annual fruit sales.
Due to social distancing directives Madison Central FFA was not able to host the SOFY (Save Our Farm Youth) event in person. As an alternative, chapter officers decided to host a virtual event for Madison’s third graders. Members of the chapter created videos to teach students safety in various agriculture related areas. These include large animal, pet, and tractor safety. In addition to the videos, students also received SOFY shirts sponsored by the chapter and the Ag Committee.
Fruit sales were a success and the fruit will be delivered on December 2nd. If you placed an order you can expect your fruit around the delivery date! Thank you to those who supported our chapter!
The District 2 LDE competitions were held November 16th and 17th through Zoom. It was certainly an unusual experience for our members; however, overall the chapter was quite successful. In the individual events, Lily Sunde placed second in the Prepared Public Speaking, and Mallorie Schultz placed second in the Job Interview contest. Colby Briggs, Cody Klein, and Ryker Johnke placed second in the Marketing Plan contest. Each of these members will represent our chapter and District 2 in the respective State LDE event. Madison Central’s Ag Issues team was chosen as the alternate for District 2. The team members include: Colby Briggs, Allie Kappenman, Cody Klein, Abby Morse, Lily Sunde, Eleni Sims, and Kate Klein.
