On a small farm outside the small town of Junius, South Dakota lives the funny, caring, and determined Allie Marie Kappenman, daughter of Angi and Ryan Kappenman, and sister to Nick. Born on May 13, 2003, Allie graced this earth seventeen years ago and hasn’t stopped smiling since. This red-headed beauty has high hopes, big dreams, and is sure to go far in life.
Allie is heavily involved in and out of MHS activities. She has been an integral part of Madison High School’s FFA club for four years. She has served as the Treasurer, Sentinel, and is currently the Vice President. Along with these high-ranking titles, she has also competed in Nationals for FFA in the Floriculture category. Allie also plays softball with the school softball team and summer league. Her team has competed in state for the past eight years and won twice. When not leading her group in Future Farmers of America or hitting grand slams on the softball field, Allie works with her father delivering campers to excited families ready to explore the great outdoors.
Allie has known her life ambitions for quite some time. She plans on attending the quaint campus of Edgewood, in Madison, WI, one of the few places to get a master's in five years as opposed to six in her desired major. Miss Kappenman wants to be a Child Life Specialist, so she can “make kids happy at some of the lowest points in their life.” This passion stemmed from an experience that changed Allie’s life. At the age of seven, her little brother was diagnosed with cancer. After a year in and out of hospitals, by her brothers' side, Allie sees the difference a Child Life Specialist can make. Allie has also overcome three concussions in her short life. She missed the first year of high school, due to an accident resulting in a bad concussion.
When asked a preferred superpower to have Allie answered, “The ability to fly so I will never be late to anything. I hate being late, it makes me feel irresponsible.” If Allie could be any character in a T.V. show, she would choose Meredith Grey, a doctor from the popular series Grey’s Anatomy. The next question was, “What would you do with five million dollars-” Allie quickly and without hesitation answered, “I would give it to the Children Miracle Network,” not even considering spending on herself. She finished by answering, “I have first-hand experienced the good they do, through my brother, and know they will continue to do amazing things.” Something that excites Allie is the thought of opportunities to come and deciding what to do with life.
With Allie’s strong drive and sense of self, she is sure to be successful in her life. Allie feels passionate about helping others, an asset that will help her to flourish in her dream job. Ten years from now, Allie sees herself living in the land of ten-thousand lakes. In Minnesota, she hopes to be married, a couple of adopted children, and working in a hospital with a master's degree.
