I’ve never met anyone so passionate about the movie Ice Age until I sat down with Cam MacDonald. His love for the movie comes from him relating to one of the characters, Sid the Sloth. This 17-year-old is a town local, loves chicken alfredo, the color orange, The Office, and is terrified of alligators. Cam is not your basic, take a trip to Hawaii guy, but instead, he would rather go to the Bahamas and drink coconut water under a palm tree.
One side of Cam's family consists of his Minnesota family: two half brothers, Connor and Ryland, and his dad and stepmom. Cam’s father, Gavin, is very important to him and inspires him to be a good person. In fact, the main reason orange is his favorite color is that it’s his dad’s favorite as well. His stepmom, Kim, is a nurse in Minnesota. His mom, Charide, works at a day-care in Sioux Falls, and lives in Madison, along with Cam’s stepdad, Matt. His stepdad drag races at Thunder Valley in Parker, South Dakota, which he really enjoys watching. This man truly loves his family, and would even buy his parent’s new houses and cars if he was given 5 million dollars to spend.
He also expressed his love for “messing with Mr. Bierschbach,” a math teacher at MHS. Cam is quite the entertainer and is an outgoing individual. He wants to be on the Wheel of Fortune someday and we all know we could not miss that episode. Cam has always dreamed of spinning the wheel and winning the prize money.
As a Madison local, Cam works at the town’s grocery store, Sunshine Foods. He is not a big fan of bagging groceries but enjoys stocking shelves. Some of his favorite co-workers are Nick and Josh. That would explain why when asked, “What Youtube Channel content would you make?” he said, “Tasting Gatorade and/or Powerade with his co-worker, Nick.” Cam and Nick would taste test drinks, and then rate them. However, they plan on rating each drink a 6/10 no matter what it actually tastes like. Not only will they taste-test, but they are going to vlog them buying the drinks as well.
Cam’s plans after high-school include going to college at either BHSU or Iowa State to study Meteorology. After college, he wants to be a Meteorologist or Storm Chaser because of how thrilling and interesting it would be to examine weather conditions. Ten years from now, Cam says he wants to be settled down, and have a couple of dogs by his side. Preferably a Boxer, but any dog will do. Most importantly, he has to have a decent television to watch the Chicago Bears play football.
With having so many goals, this adventurous fellow wants to take on the challenge of Skydiving. Cam states, “If you skydive, you can do anything,” and he is ready to take on the challenge. I wish the best for you. Hopefully, you conquer skydiving and have a great rest of your senior year.
