Abby

Kindness, athleticism, generosity, and family are the core values that shine through when talking to Abigail. I have always considered this volleyball superstar to be someone to go to whenever you have a problem. Because I, like so many others, see Abby as someone who will always help, and someone who will always be there. As a matter of fact, if given $5 million dollars, there wouldn’t be any hesitation before giving that money to her family and others in need. “If I had that kind of money I would buy my parents a home, set up college funds for my brothers, pay for my brother’s medical needs, and give the rest to diabetic research,” because Abby’s brother has type one diabetes. Abigail Brooks has a kind heart and cares deeply for her family, her being one of her five family members. Speaking about her family connectivity, her middle name, Leigh, comes from her grandfather, who she also coincidentally shares a birthday (June 2nd, 2003). It's not all seriousness when it comes to family; she did say that she would also purchase her grandmother a roller coaster cart. When asked why she smiled and simply replied, “Well…my grandma likes roller coaster rides.”

If you have ever attended an MHS volleyball game, chances are you’ve seen #7 dominating the court. Abby is very proud of her athletic skills, as is the rest of her family. Ever since she was in preschool, on the weekends, you could find her at the Sioux Falls Pentagon practicing her serves, sets, and spikes. Abby plans to attend NSU to play for their volleyball team. After seeing her in action, we all know that this senior can easily accomplish this goal. Unsurprisingly, Abby is finishing this season strong with a .456 hit average, and an all-state honorable mention. Abby may specialize in volleyball, but she is a jack of all trades. She works at the community center, taking care of the children. When asked if she likes to take care of children she quickly retorted that “Working in my church's nursery is where it's at!”

Abby is indecisive, yet she seems to have a pretty good idea of what she wants her future to be. She plans to attend NSU with a possible major in biology or psychology. When it comes to settling down she said that she might get married, have a couple of kids, and hopefully live somewhere nice and quaint like a cottage or cabin. Whatever the future holds for Abigail Brooks, she is looking forward to the next chapters life will bring.
