Wyatt

Imagine living in a world where the stars are not surpassed by the lights of street lamps, the kind of life where trees are tall and never out of sight, and the snow slowly and gently falls onto the safe serenity of the ground each and every night. Life is “just life and you gotta live in it.” according to Wyatt James Johnson, an Alaska-loving classmate of mine.

Alaska is where Wyatt hopes to live one day as a welder. Wyatt would choose to be cold rather than being too hot, and that’s one of the reasons why he would choose to live in Alaska. Wyatt's favorite subject is every agriculture class he's taken, and this includes welding. His career choice would be to do something with welding, but most of all he enjoys the thought of underwater welding. Underwater welding is not just a dangerous career choice, but a cold one.

Wyatt was brought into this world on March 14, 2002, which makes him the ripe old age of 18. He lives 10 minutes outside of town and has two sets of twin sisters, who are 12 and 21. He is close with his family, and being the only boy brought a special connection with his mom.

Wyatt and his mother share a favorite song called “Simple Man” by Shinedown. They both love this song because of the words and the meaning behind them. One of the special lines in the song states, “Mama told me when I was young, ‘Come sit beside me, my only son, and listen closely to what I say and if you do this it’ll help you some sunny day,’ ah yeah.”

Some of the more inspiring aspects of Wyatt's life comes from his mentality. Wyatt has always believed that “if I say I'm not going to be depressed then I'm not going to be depressed, and if I say I’m going to be happy, then I'm going to be happy.” He told me during this interview that he is a genuinely happy person and can fully and confidently say it. With this type of outlook on life he is very laid back and isn't afraid of much, other than heights and spiders.
