Sophia

Sophia VandenBosch is a 17-year-old active athlete. She lives in the town of Madison and her family consists of her mom, dad,  brother, Marcus; and sister, Roz. The siblings no longer live in the same house, but that doesn't stop them from having fun together by playing sports when they do get together.  They are a very athletic family-Sophia plays volleyball, softball, and basketball. She loves the sport volleyball so much, she coaches it too. She coaches and refs down in Sioux Falls at the Sanford Pentagon.

Although she is really into sports, she likes music as well. Her favorite song lyrics are, “Never had a plan, just living in the moment,” by Alan Jackson, because “I used to overthink things but now I just live in the moment.” Sophia loves being in the moment, so much she wishes she could time travel. If she could travel back in time, she would “go back in time to see what it was like before, and compare to how it is now.”

Even though Sophia would like to travel back in time, she also likes to travel in the now. This senior would like to travel to specifically Bora Bora, but mostly just around the world. Although travel is what she wants to do, her house is where she finds comfort. While she enjoys being comfortable, her favorite subject is one that makes others uncomfortable -math. “I’ve always been good with numbers and I enjoy the feeling I get when I learn something new.”

She likes learning new things so much that she is interested in being a different person. She wants to be the one to blaze the trail for the upcoming generations. Speaking of trailblazers, if she could be any character in a movie, she chose Mulan. Sophia chose Mulan for the reason that she was a trailblazer.

If she could choose to be any animal, she would be a dog, because they are “fun and adorable.” Sophia recommends living every day like it’s your last because you never know what's around the corner.

While Sophia might be living every day like it’s her last, she has a plan for after graduation. Her plan for her future is to play volleyball or softball in college and major in psychology. If that doesn’t plan out she would become a teacher, a coach, and move to Arizona. Sophia works well with children and has a great future ahead of her.
