Have you ever met a girl that can’t go a day without getting her fair share of popcorn? Well, you’re about to. Allison Bruns, 17-years-old, born and raised in Madison, SD, doesn’t remember a time before her love of popcorn. If it was up to her, she would have popcorn with a side of butter for every meal.
Other than her love of buttery popcorn, Allison’s love for her family is like no other. Allison is the daughter of Matt and Kim Bruns. She is the oldest of four siblings: two brothers, Max and Gavin; a little sister, Breanna; and of course her favorite sibling, her dog, “the dachshund on steroids,” Tucker. In her seventeen years of life, one of the things she is most grateful for is her family, especially her mom. Her mom is her best friend and a great listener. She is always down for a good laugh, and can always turn a bad day upside down. However, when it comes to cooking, her dad is the “grill master.”
Allison’s favorite thing to do is laugh. To no one's surprise, her favorite TV show is Impractical Jokers. If you have never seen this show you are “missing out” according to her. Impractical Jokers is a hidden camera series, where five grown men prank people. It has always been Allison's dream to be on the show, she has even plotted a plan for the day that they come up to her. “I will just stand there and act dumb,” although we all know what she would really be doing, laughing.
Although Allison would rather joke around, she does have a serious side. In high school, she has been a part of various clubs including the student council, FBLA, National Honors Society, and youth group. Although procrastinating is what she does best, she has always been a straight-A student. Allison’s favorite subject is history, but only with Mr. Cordts. One thing that she learned in high school is, “It is a growing and learning experience, so have fun because it flies by.” Something Allison would tell underclassmen is, “don’t be afraid to make mistakes and laugh at yourself every once in a while.”
After high school, Allison plans on pursuing pre-physical therapy at SDSU and then furthering her education at USD for a physical therapy degree. Someday Allison wants to be married, have a big family of four or more kids, have lots of dogs, and of course, be happy. With all this senior has to offer, she will do nothing short of conquering the world.
