This high school senior didn’t have things come easy to her, but she worked hard to accomplish all of her goals and dreams with ambition, determination, and hard work. Makena Marlene Schultz is following her dream and will be attending Augie Access Program at Augustana University in Sioux Falls next school year. Makena will be taking classes that will help her make a career choice.
Makena is 19 years old. She lives on a farm with her family which includes her mom (Lori), her dad (Terry), her sister (Mallorie), and her dogs (Charlie and Lucy). I have known Makena since both of us went to Chester Area School. She loves homework, books, and fusion beads. She couldn’t live without her phone because it’s important to her. Her favorite subject is Creative Writing because she likes to write stories.
Makena is involved in Special Olympics South Dakota where she participates in bowling, track and field, swimming, and bocce ball. Makena is a nice friend and a good teammate. She lives out the oath which is, “Let me win, but if I cannot win, let me be brave in the attempt.” She shows good character in the many jobs she has had over the years. Makena has worked at Mustang Seeds, Bethel Nursing Home, Community Center, and Madison Central School District Lunch Program. Some good qualities she learned at the many jobs are patience, following directions, routines, and leadership. She is a great leader in the classroom and outside the classroom.
Somethings you should know about Makena is that her favorite color is purple. Her favorite food is pizza. She loves watching TV. Someday she would like to live in Argentina because the people are awesome. If she had $5 million dollars she would spend it on cars, houses, and craft/art supplies.
She is one of the nicest people I know and I hope we can be best friends forever.
