If you have ever been to a Renner Post 307 Royals baseball game, you have more than likely heard the name, Aspen Dahl. Aspen spends the majority of his time participating in sports, specifically track, basketball, and baseball. In fact, Aspen says baseball is the one thing he could not live without. Born and raised in Madison, he began playing when he was little and hopes to continue playing baseball throughout college. Aspen believes it is important to be “active as a young individual because it teaches you a lot.” One of his favorite memories from his time in baseball is winning the 2021 state tournament and playing in the central regional. One of his dreams is to go to every Major League Baseball stadium. His love for the sport is so great, he says if he could live anywhere in the world he would live in the Dominican Republic because baseball is such a large part of their culture.
When Aspen isn’t on the baseball field, he spends his free time hanging out with friends, going fishing, and hunting. His parents got the inspiration for his name from the Aspen trees when they went on a hunting trip to the Black Hills. Aspen’s favorite color is green. He attributes this partly to the fact that his dad’s favorite color is green, and partly because a majority of nature is green. Although he is somewhat of an outdoorsy guy, his biggest fear is the dark. More specifically, being outside in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by darkness, which he thinks “would freak a lot of people out.”
Aspen has quite a large family. He has a mom and stepdad, Desi and Eric; a sister, Ellis; dad and stepmom, Lucas and Kara; a stepsister, Landree; and two stepbrothers, Breck and Bryer. Aspen says that athletics and school come fairly easy to him. He thinks this is because he enjoys numbers. Math is his favorite subject and he loves analytics. In college, he would like to pursue a major in business, finance, or accounting, with the ultimate goal of becoming an accountant or loan officer. In ten years, Aspen sees himself being married and having a couple of kids. If he were to have a superpower, he would want to be able to time travel because he is very eager to see what the future has in store for him.
