Nearly 60 years ago in September of 1963, New Zealander Bruce McLaren founded the McLaren F1 Team, better known as McLaren. The company released its first true Mclaren sports car, the M1A (shown below), in 1964. The M1A had a 5-speed manual transmission and a V8 engine with 550 hp. It had the capability of reaching speeds up to 140 miles per hour. It became a popular sports car and raced throughout America and Europe. The M1B followed this model in 1965.  The M1B carried the company to the Can-Am (Canadian-American Challenge Cup) Championship and yielded a third-place rank. Between 1967 and 1971, McLaren won 37 of the 43 Can-Am races. These victories would pave the way for the distinguished reputation of the McLaren brand.

Today, McLaren’s name continues to reign superior in the automotive industry. The United States sold over 7500 McLarens by 2020. McLaren unveiled their most recent model, the 765LT, a 2-door coupé, on March 3, 2020. To say the least, the specs of the 2022 765LT model are a bit different than those of the M1A. The 765LT has a twin-turbo V8, 4.0L engine with a maximum power of 755 bhp (brake horsepower). It has an acceleration of 0-60 mph in 2.7 seconds and a top speed of 205 mph. A new 765LT can be purchased for around $382,000.
