Last year, Madison High School introduced a new Health Occupation Students of America (HOSA) club. It is a club for students who are interested in a health career or students who are unsure what they would like to do. Last year, the chapter attended leadership training, SCRUBS Camps, mentorship programs, and the state conference. This year, Madison High School’s chapter has almost doubled in size. The current officers are Reporter, Piper Davies; Historian, Amanda Vacanti; Treasurer, Evelyn Graham; Secretary, Kendra Havlik; Vice President, Jessie Tappe; and President, Ashlyn Strom.

This year, there are many different events that members of our chapter will be attending. On October 26th, HOSA will head to Mitchell Technical College for a SCRUBS camp. Then, on November 7th, the officers will attend training in Huron. Towards the end of the year, members will begin to choose the competition events in order to prepare for the contests. There are different types of competitions including online tests only and online to in-person tests of skills.

Every month HOSA chooses a topic to share with the school. September was “National Fruits and Veggies Matter More Month". In honor of this, HOSA members will be delivering fruit to each study hall on October 5th.
