Childhood obesity can affect young adults and kids at early stages of life. Many fast food restaurants target kids to get them lured in to buying the food they see on commercials and ads. Developing good eating habits and making the right decisions when it comes to food are important skills for young people.
Obesity occurs when you eat more food than the body can burn off. It is advised to take in no more than 2,000 calories per day If you exceed that limit time after time, the body can’t keep up and starts to store the calories as fat. Dangers of obesity can include heart disease, diabetes, joint pain, and back pain. These are just a few of the problems that may occur with obesity. Developing good eating habits and staying active can help in the fight against obesity.
“An obese adolescent must therefore learn to eat and enjoy healthy foods in moderate amounts and to exercise regularly to maintain a desired weight.” ("Obesity in Children and Teens"). Learning to eat the right foods at the right times is one of the hardest habits to change; many kids end up going back to their old eating habits unless they work hard to make lifestyle changes.
